Prince of Persia 3-D

Prince of Persia 3-D Review

I've played and finished all three games in this series. Several times! The story line and puzzles keep you in suspense with good action too! I would love to see another entry in this series. I would have liked to see a more exciting cinematic on game completion but I thought the rest where really good. The puzzles are challenging and the sword fighting is excellent. The graphics are very good.

One of the great things about the first two games in this series was that the character's motion was much more natural and realistic than anything else on the market at that time. This game might be a drop below others of its time in the graphics and motion department but the graphics are still very good. To complain about the graphics is like complaining about a new Ford because there is a BMW available on the market. A Ford might not match a BMW but it's still a great car!

I've noticed that some people have complained about controlling the prince. My advice, use the number pad on your keyboard and you shouldn't have a problem. With a little practice you should not have a problem. If the camera angle is in a bad place, use the Enter key on your number pad to get a good look around (see the game instructions).

If the game seems slow or choppy, lower the resolution and gamma. Play this game in a dark room so you can keep the gamma pretty low.

The gore level (or lack of) was something that disappointed me a bit. When a wall blade killed the prince in POP2 you would see blood on the blade and the wall. The only blood you see in this game is in some of the background scenery and it's not much. High gore just means that the head is actually separated from the body if the prince walks through a blade. In low gore the head stays attached. There is no blood at all. I don't really call that gore. I don't play games just to see gore though so that doesn't reduce my overall opinion of the game.

One more note, there IS enough time in the last stage to finish. You just have to know how to use your weapons! By the time you get there you should have had enough practice for that. You cannot save in the middle of that level. If you don't make it you have to start that level over. I've done it more than once though so it has to be possible!

In short, great game! Highly recommended! The release of the classic side-scrolling platform game Prince of Persia changed computer games forever. Designer Jordan Mechner expertly wove elements of sword-fighting action and adventure game puzzles to create an addiction that was both easy to learn and fun to play.

Over 10 years have passed since Prince of Persia's debut, and computer game technology has improved exponentially. Red Orb Entertainment puts that technology to good use in the attractive Prince of Persia 3D, the third--and hopefully not last--title in the popular series.

Players assume the role of the Prince of Persia, who's once again forced to fight through an increasingly difficult set of areas to track down the kidnapped Princess. During the adventure, you'll battle guards, bandits, and other evil henchman while utilizing a varied selection of melee and bow weaponry. Crafty level design ensures plenty of familiar lever, floor panel, and rope-swinging puzzles. (Watch out for those spike traps!) Maneuvering the Prince within the new 3-D environment is perhaps the only minor gripe; lining up jumps and navigating tunnels with the sometimes too-fast Prince can become a tricky endeavor. Boasting startling 3-D graphics, dazzling levels, and familiar, easy-to-learn gameplay, Prince of Persia 3D should both delight old fans and collect many new ones. --Doug Radcliffe

Prince of Persia 3-D or The Infernal Machine? - -
Okay lets get down to buisness.

1. I bought this for dirt cheap

2. im near completion of this game im sure or at least half way & so far it is...well,GOOD

3.I betcha this game runs on an engine similar to the infernal engine or not the same one

I think this game is great I mean really.... it's "PRINCE OF PERSIA" & yes I had to capitalize & put quotation marks around it because...... im emphasizing that this game series is one of the greats or close to them in 2nd. Namely because the sands of time made most of my family know about it(not the movie the game)my dad(on the other hand) had known about these when the first one came out he said he would play it for hours on end. Just to get to the next level or dungeon(if thats spelled correctly). When he came upstairs one time he saw i had downloaded Prince of Persia for free and said that THIS was a good game and wanted to know how hard it was for me, (the usual). Now when i decided to play this 3-d one or PoP 3, I had thought aspects from "The Infernal Machine" would be included(such as: puzzle solving, small adventures to get to a level, and even in game cutscenes[plus cutscenes alone]THIS is a game i thought would be identical).

The thing that threw me off was the combat system. Hard to master at first but after a while became easy,(most of the time i would just press the attack key at the right time or i was screwed). So overall this is a game worth getting if you have played "The Infernal Machine" or any games similar to it(even ones on the infernal engine). Now, the story for this game, The saultan of Persia & his brother (i think) have decided that the Prince of Persia (you) should mary the princess. BUT, the saultans brother says he wants to mary her, and turns of his brother & throws you in the jail/dungeon. It's your job to save the princess before the saultans brother maries her or an eagle headed guy, packed with puzzles, & riddles, adventure, & action and a bigger plot than you can think of!!!!!

This game has been around for some time, but the PC graphic quality and gameplay stack up against anything new out there. Very simple to play, but extremely challenges as the game progresses, this will keep you occupied for quite some time. There are those who will complain that "It's not as good as" but if you want some inexpensive fun, this is a very good platform adventure game, that is better in many ways than a lot of it's rival titles
